I hope you’re not tired of Italy yet, because I have more to share! On our big Italian adventure, we had the chance to visit the beautiful island of Capri, which I had heard about all my life. It was great to see and experience the magic of Capri first hand. It’s really awesome! The vistas from the top and the boat ride we took around part of the island were amazing to see. I’m sure we didn’t even scratch the surface of Capri in seeing all there was to see, but what we did see was amazing. I took so many pictures that Capri definitely deserves its own post.
If you missed my first Italy posts, you can find them here:
Our Italy Adventure: Naples
Our Italy Adventure: Sorrento
We left Sorrento that day and took the ferry to Capri and had a lovely day.
Ferries are very spacious and can accommodate many people.
Leaving Sorrento, it looks beautiful from the boat.
Arriving in Capri we quickly hopped on another boat where we took a 30 minute tour through the waters of the island.
It was amazing to be on an open boat and see this beauty in person.
This is awesome! Can you see that little statue over there? famous Gennarino Scugnizzo, the bronze boy sits on a large rock called Lo Capo, where he waves to islanders passing by in boats. He is also known as the statue of welcome. We have to look really good to recognize him.
We really enjoyed boating around the island and watching from the water. Such beautiful scenery!
There are many grottoes that people can visit and we only saw this one up close. Apparently you can go inside the grottos in small boats. I looked it up online and it looks great. The Blue Grotto must be beautiful to see from a small boat that fits through the openings.
We were glad to be there!
The island is just as you would imagine.
Look at those steps carved into the stone.
These rocks are famous all over the world and are called Faraglionethe three iconic rocks rising out of the water are instantly recognizable as Capri.
They are excellent from all angles.
Our guide told us that this white house at the top once belonged to Sean Connery.
We returned to shore, where we walked around Capri and took a funicular to the top of the island.
The views from here are definitely extra special.
Wherever you go in Italy, there are outdoor tables for al fresco dining. The scenery is breathtaking and it will make you want to eat and roam around in all the open spaces in Italy.
We walked and saw beautiful scenery.
Capri is also known for high end shopping.
I love all the flowers all over Italy, such beautiful scenery and beautiful blooms.
We enjoyed a walk through a garden area that led to higher views and even more beautiful views below.
Every walk on the trail brought more beauty into view.
And these opinions are not old! There are views of the iconic rocks from the top.
I think that’s the same White House we saw from the boat.
Isn’t it gorgeous? It was truly breathtaking.
That White House again.
We had a lot of photo ops and had to take advantage of this scene. We will always remember this trip to Italy and how special it was.
It was a great time and we definitely hope to go back and maybe next year! If you missed my Italy trip announcement this week, I hope you’ll check it out. I am planning to organize my own group trip to Italy in April next year to visit Florence, Tuscany and the Italian Riviera. It’s going to be a fun trip, so I’d love to see you there! I will be talking about this tour for the next few months as we try to fill out the tour group. I know people can’t always make quick decisions, so definitely consider going with us!
