You won’t want to miss this beautiful neutral luxury master bedroom design in a lake house in Louisiana. Finally, my sister, Renee, is ready to share the bedroom with all of you. It’s definitely been a journey of progress since we got the wallpaper last August, but it’s definitely gotten better. I shared this quick moodboard of the direction she was going in my post last year when I visited and we worked on the wallpaper wall. She always had in mind all the neutrals in shades of cream, white, gray, grey, taupe, and that’s what the wallpaper delivered, so it was a good jumping off point for her to work with.
A moodboard I put together last year featured the new Ballard Designs bed she bought along with the Hooker Sanctuary nightstands she found at Wayfair. I’ll link to everything I can do for you below in designing this room. Here is the final reveal!
I think it turned out great and the wallpapered headboard wall really makes an impact. Her whole house is painted alabaster by Sherwin Williams and it’s a nice backdrop for all her neutrals. Her entire home is neutral, with a little blue added for some fun. If you missed the house posts I did after they moved in, be sure and check out the whole house as well as the pool and outdoor spaces. This is an amazing house on the lake!
The room is spacious with lots of windows overlooking the lake. Renee bought some solid cherry French country furniture before they got married 24 years ago and they’ve been using it ever since. To get more use out of it and not have to buy a new one (which is mostly a waste these days) she decided to paint it. She found a local guy at a furniture painting store and painted their drawers and dresser in two tones they saw in the shop. It’s really cool and she loves it now that she’s flowing with the new design.
She bought a new King Ballard Designs cane bed last year and it’s a beautiful shade of cream against the wallpaper. There is wallpaper Thibaut Daintree Pearl, from where she ordered. 2 printed pillows as well as a folded blanket under the bed from HomeGoods.
Her bedding is a mix from all different sources and I share what I can from them as well. I can link the striped mattress, the euro shams in the back, but everything else has been collected at different times so they don’t have links.
Check out the La Compte Rug from Simply Southern Designs on Amazon here. I was lucky enough to work with Sarah to share this rug when the collection first came out, so I sent the rug to my sister and it finally fell into place. The nightstands are Hooker Sanctuary from Wayfair and they are attractive and beautiful with a mix of mirror and light colored wood.
From the bench target at the end of the bed. Have a look at the painted chest of drawers.
From the living room and master bathroom you can see a small hallway leading into the master bedroom. They can close the suite to the rest of the household. The master bathroom is directly down this hall with a closet to the right before you get there.
My sister enjoys watching TV in bed so they set up their TV in this corner which works well for viewing. You can look at a dresser with two tones of paint and see how beautiful it is now. The gals who made it did a great job.
It fits perfectly in their newly designed living room. The artwork above the dresser is from HomeGoods. That chair and ottoman I sent her. This is a Sherrill chair I found years ago at the Salvation Army in Birmingham. My last house had a white slipcover on it and I couldn’t part with it, so I kept it and brought it to this house. She wanted his corner reclining chair, so I gave it to her and she bought performance fabric and recovered it, so it’s now a great reclining chair and ottoman.
Another look at the painted dresser. She doesn’t have the paint colors they used, but it was painted in Fusion Paint, so it’s not hard to figure out if you like this combo. I think this lamp is also found in household appliances.
Chest of drawers on the side of the room. All of their blinds are from Payless Decor, which is where I got mine. I worked with them several years ago in my old house and new house and love their blinds. These are cordless, which is really nice, and the Mandalay Oak color, which I can’t see on the website anymore, but they are in the Advantage Cordless shades. She’s got a cordless lift with inside mount, blackout liners and all that looks good from the outside too. With their beautiful wood, she might not add drapes except for a few spots around the house. There is absolutely no room for drapes here.
Take a closer look at the painted dresser.
She’s had that starburst mirror for years, so it can’t be linked.
Found this little reading lamp online and found they liked this style with the added spot reading light. Renee likes to read in bed so this comes in handy. This is one LitFab Reading Light in Shades of Beige. Note that this is direct from China, but I found one on Amazon that looks similar and it might be easier to get it and return it if you don’t like it. Check out all the links below.
Side note: They got a new bed because their old bed had “wings” on the sides. It’s an upholstered bed they’ve had for years and she still loves it but after they installed these reading lamps, it didn’t work with the old bed and wings, so they got a new one. Things and decorations we do in life!
Another view. I’ll share all the links I can below, but feel free to ask if you have any questions. I love how their bedroom turned out and hope you do too. It was fun to get everyone together. Affiliate links used below.
